Boutique law firms seal merger deal

Two Leicester boutique law firms, Ashteds Solicitors and Pattersons Commercial Law, have merged.

Ash Mody and Rik Pancholi sealed the deal in a move which will create a larger firm based at Pattersons Commercial Law’s Pear Tree Business Park headquarters.

Trading as Pattersons Commercial Law, the 12-strong combined team will now add Ashteds Solicitors’ reputation dispute resolution and insolvency law to Pattersons Commercial Law’s skills and experience in corporate, commercial property and employment law.

Mody will become a director at Pattersons Commercial Law, as will Charlotte Clarke who moves with him, along with PA Jayne Smith.

Pancholi said: “This is a very proud day for me and all of the team at Pattersons Commercial Law. We have been growing steadily and strategically for a few years but I have always been keen to look at new partnerships.

“Ash and his team have a fantastic reputation and this merger means we are another step closer to a full-service offering but just as crucially, it also means we have someone of huge experience on the team and someone I am sure we will all learn a lot from. I cannot wait to get everyone together as we plan the next phase of growth for our combined firm.”

Before establishing Ashteds, Mody was part of the management team of Spearing Waite and prior to that led the commercial litigation and insolvency team at Howes Percival.

Mody said: “I have known Rik and his team for many years and much like him we have always been keen to offer new services to our clients. Sometimes the timing is just right and it goes to show that whatever the wider economic environment, deals can still be done when opportunities are aligned.

“This is great news for our clients across both firms as we now have a wide range of services built on similar cultures of excellence and innovation with a key focus on customer service. We look forward to a bright future together.”
