Derby engineering firm lands contract with south coast counterpart
Derby-based Acres Engineering has begun a collaboration with global specialist engineering services business tpgroup as it continues to invest in its manufacturing facility in Portsmouth.
tpgroup is a consulting, digital solutions and engineering services provider on defence, space and energy programmes, employing approximately 450 people in six countries.
It works with governments, institutions and leading commercial businesses and recently announced the acquisition of Osprey Consulting Services.
The two engineering firms met at a Make UK National Manufacturing Conference in London and began dialogue over how they could work together to help drive the culture of innovation at the iconic Portsmouth site.
Acres has already created bespoke step ladders to improve health and safety in their stores area, on the Lean Manufacturing shop floor, a bespoke pipe rack to improve efficiency and safe storage and bespoke stillages for safe and efficient transportation of products.
The latest project will see Acres create and install a 7.5 tonnes powder-coated gantry crane at the facility to help boost site capability whilst maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
