Plans revealed to build major multi-storey car park

How the new car park would look

Plans to build a major multi-storey car park just outside of Nottingham city centre have been revealed.

The developer behind the scheme says the new car park would help alleviate the problems associated with parking at a nearby hospital complex.

Minster Developments wants to build the facility, which would hold 1,500 vehicles, on the site of the former Bell Fruit Games site in Leen Gate in the suburb of Lenton, close to both a University of Nottingham campus and the Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC).

A planning statement submitted by architect Jackson Design Associates reads: ” The developer has been in discussion with QMC for many months to understand the inadequacies of the existing car park provision on site, and the level of unmet demand that currently exists plus future requirements. There is at this time a waiting list of over 1,200 for staff parking permits and that list is growing. This car park would relieve the immediate issue and provide some future capacity at the same time.”
