Two newly-merged security firms have selected Nottingham as its centre of operations.

Synectics Security, newly formed through the merger of Quadrant Security Group (QSG) and Preston-based Synectics Mobile Systems (SMS), plans to make the existing QSG facility in Chilwell its headquarters.

The Chilwell location will become home to a workforce of 134, including two newly-created positions, though a number of those positions will be field based.

Iain Stringer, managing director of Synectics Security, said: “The merger and subsequent formation of Synectics Security has given us a unique proposition which pairs decades of experience dealing with the complexities of on-vehicle systems integration with the expertise and specialist technical qualifications necessary for successful deployment of large-scale security and surveillance solutions.

“As well as making us one of the largest independent integrators operating right now in the UK this also makes us one of the only ones with such a broad capability set. What’s crucial to capitalising on that, is a base that meets our logistical, staffing and wider operational needs. We will have that with our enhanced set up in Nottingham.”

A transition process is underway that will see assets, systems and processes gradually migrated to Nottingham where they will be consolidated.

The newly-launched business says it is already eyeing-up a number of pipeline projects and customers. While these cannot be named at present, they include work for a major rail operator linked to COVID-19 requirements, a police force solution, and a large-scale military contract.

Mark Pennington, commercial director at Synectics Security, said: “Both businesses always worked to a customer promise of selecting the right innovative technologies to deliver a tailored solution which meets each of their precise needs. That hasn’t changed. But thanks to our pooled resources, expert capabilities, and unified workforce based out of a great facility, we’re in a much stronger position to deliver that promise and much more besides.”
