On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Bethany Brayshaw and Rose Joseph

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment has appointed Bethany Brayshaw as labour manager in its Chesterfield office.

Brayshaw said: “Moving back to the UK just before the country went into lockdown was unfortunate to say the least, so I am pleased to get back into the world of recruitment and I am looking forward to working with the Thorn Baker team.”

Rose Joseph, branch manager at Thorn Baker Chesterfield said: “I am looking forward to working with Bethany and I know her experience will be hugely valuable to us at the moment.

“Whilst there are many job losses currently, some sectors are thriving, and companies are seeking staff to help them meet increased customer volumes. Companies have drastically increased their online operations and home deliveries which means more people are needed to work in warehouse and logistics roles to fulfil orders. Similarly, supermarkets have done very well as people have not been able to eat out, so we have strong demand for roles in food production.”

Rachel Whickman

Lydia Watkinson has joined specialist immigration law firm OTB Legal, in the role of associate solicitor, and Rachel Whickman takes up the position of immigration advisor.

The pair will be working alongside director Mark Lilley-Tams in the private and family department of the business, which has seen a huge surge in enquiries over the past few months.

Lilley-Tams said: “We are absolutely delighted Lydia and Rachel are joining the family and private life team at OTB Legal, where we have seen the number of enquiries skyrocket over recent months.

“Lydia’s experience and passionate approach to immigration law fits in perfectly with our ethos and Rachel has a strong track record of representing clients with highly complex family and private life matters and getting positive outcomes.

“Together, they will allow us to increase our capacity and continue delivering a very high-quality service to our clients.”

An East Midlands architecture practices has expanded its team with the addition of two new staff members.

James Cunnington and Claire Johnson have joined as a senior architectural technologist and studio manager respectively.

The hires follow on from the firm’s relaunch as Player Roberts Bell earlier this year, reflecting the business’ continued expansion and the growth of its client base.

Cunnington arrives at Player Roberts Bell from Benoy, where he worked on projects across the UK, Europe and in India. Having worked across various sectors including residential, retail, aviation and refurbishment for 15 years, Cunnington’s experience enhances the team’s broad skill set.

Johnson has spent the past decade in business management roles, including a spell as studio manager at Purcell. She also has previous experience as head of people at a web design and development agency, as well as managing sales support for the UK offices of an Australian manufacturing company.

Aiden Bell, director at Player Roberts Bell, said: “We’re delighted to welcome James and Claire to the team. We’ve seen steady growth in terms of projects over the past few months, and bringing these guys in will supplement the existing team and puts us in a great place to deliver both our current workload and the projects we have in the pipeline.”
