On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Ryan MacLachlan

Alasdair Morrison & Partners, estate agents with offices in Newark and Southwell, has hired Ryan MacLachlan to its team of valuers.

He has a wealth of experience in the local property market, having been inspired to become an estate agent in 2013 by his father, who also works in the property industry.

“I am very happy to be joining the team at Alasdair Morrison & Partners and building on my property expertise,” said MacLachcan.

He added: “I find being an estate agent a very humbling experience. People are entrusting you with selling their greatest financial asset, which is a huge responsibility but a challenge that I really enjoy.”

Owner Alasdair Morrison said: “We were very impressed by Ryan’s enthusiasm and work ethic. He takes a lot of pride in his job and wants to do his utmost to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients, be those first time buyers or experienced property owners. I know that he’ll quickly establish himself and complement our existing teams.”

Jeff Shipway

Following an extended recruitment process that was curtailed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ockbrook School has now completed the appointment of its new head teacher.

Jeff Shipway, BSc (Hons), MA, PGCE takes over from Tom Brooksby, who announced his retirement in January. Shipway is currently Deputy Head (Pastoral) and Designated Safeguarding Lead at Tettenhall College, a co-educational independent day and boarding school for 2 – 18 year olds, in the Wolverhampton suburb of Tettenhall.

Amanda Redgate, chair of Governors at Ockbrook School, said: “The Trustees and Governors are delighted to announce that Mr Jeff Shipway will take up the position of Head at Ockbrook School from January 2021, succeeding Mr Tom Brooksby, who retires after seven years of transformational leadership.

“We are delighted by Jeff Shipway’s appointment. He emerged as the outstanding candidate from a very strong field, who underwent a rigorous and inclusive procedure, involving interviews with pupils, parents, staff and governors. Given his impressive experience, as a Head of Department, a Boarding Housemaster and more recently, as an experienced Deputy Head of nine years’ standing, we are convinced that he will provide exactly the type of visionary leadership that we are looking for at this exciting time in Ockbrook’s history.”
