Building society appoints vastly experienced finance professional
Nottingham Building Society has appointed experienced financial professional Peter O’Donnell to its board as non-executive director.
O’Donnell brings over 30 years of experience across a diverse range of finance and operational roles at financial services organisations including Unum, Aviva, RSA and Prudential.
In his most recent role at leading employee benefits provider, Unum, O’Donnell served as president and chief executive officer of the UK business and as executive vice president of its international arm. During his time there, O’Donnell made significant contributions to the growth of the Unum brand in the UK and oversaw its expansion into Europe.
David Marlow, chief executive at The Nottingham, said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to welcome Peter. He joins us at a key time as we press on with our strategy to reinvent the Society for a post-pandemic world and build on our purpose of helping members save, plan for and protect their financial future. Peter brings significant experience of driving amongst other things a successful digitisation strategy and will be key in helping us give the best member experience as we develop new digital services to transform our core proposition.”
O’Donnell said: “I’m delighted to be joining The Nottingham’s board and am already looking forward to supporting and shaping some of the exciting plans already in place on the Society’s road to reinvention. Thanks to a sound strategy and progressive culture at the Society, there’s a fantastic opportunity to really add value to its members in a post-pandemic world and beyond.”
He will join the board in the new year, accompanying fellow non-executive directors Andrew Neden, Kerry Spooner, Simon Baum, Kavita Patel, Mike Brierley and Simon Linaires.
