Plans revealed for what could be Nottingham’s tallest building

Code Students is currently developing a 36-storey scheme in Sheffield

A new student accommodation has taken a major step forward after a contractor was appointed to demolish a building next to the Victoria Shopping Centre in Nottingham city centre.

TheBusinessDesk.com understands that Derby-based Cawarden has been appointed to clear the site of the former Base 51 building on Glasshouse Street so that it can developed into a new scheme that has the potential to be tallest tower in the city centre.

The scheme will be run by Code Students (Nottingham). The company has schemes in Leicester and Coventy and is currently building Sheffield’s tallest building.

It is thought that developer Cassidy Group had an agreement in place with the former owner of the land, intu. However, since the shopping mall owner collapsed last summer this may have changed.

A planning application will be submitted to Nottingham City Council later this year.
