City briefs: Sumo Group; Robinson; Ibstock; Cloudcall; Image Scan

Sumo Group, the Nottingham-based games developer, says that its its revenue and adjusted EBITDA for the full year ended 31 December 2020 are expected to be ahead of market expectations of at least £16m. The higher-than-expected results reflect strong performances from Sumo Digital and its latest acquisition, Pipeworks, and higher than expected royalty income, during the year.

Robinson, the Chesterfield packaging firm, says that its revenues are expected to rise by 6% to £37m for the year to December 31 2020. The firm says it anticipates adjusted and reported profit before tax for 2020 to be ahead of current market expectations, and ahead of 2019.

Ibstock, the Leicestershire brick maker, says its revenues for the full year 2020 are likely to be down by 23% on 2019 at around £315m. The firm now expects to report adjusted EBITDA for 2020 “modestly above” the previous guidance of £50m given in a trading update in October.

Cloudcall, the Leicester based communications firm, says it turnover looks set to have risen by 4% last year to £11.8m. Simon Cleaver, chief executive, said: “As the year progressed, the significant COVID-19 headwind we encountered in the first half of the year has reversed, to become an important adoption driver for our products and services. This is strongly evidenced in the recovery in our sales and marketing KPIs during the second half of the year. Many of which have now improved to levels above where they were before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.”

Image Scan, the Loughborough x-ray imaging manufacturer, has been awarded a contract to supply three portable X-ray scanning systems to the Royal Air Force.

The systems to be supplied are the ThreatScan®-LSC, a combination package including a large format ThreatScan®-LS1 panel, a compact ThreatScan®-LS3 panel with back-pack, a tablet PC imaging station and the I-Gen generator. This combination system provides great deployment flexibility for different threat scenarios. The award is the company’s first contract with the RAF.
