38-acre site in Derbyshire set for new homes

The site in Swadlincote

Terra Strategic has secured an agreement to promote a 38-acre site for residential development in the South Derbyshire town of Swadlincote.

The site is in Upper Midway, one-and-a-half miles from the town centre and, Terra says, could accommodate residential development, associated infrastructure and community facilities.

Terra says will work with South Derbyshire District Council to explore new housing and facilities. The 38-acre site, which is currently designated for grazing, will then be promoted through the Local Plan process. The development opportunity was introduced to Terra by the Loughborough office of Agents Mather Jamie.

James O’Shea, managing director of Terra Strategic, said: “The pandemic could result in an overall shortage of over 100,000 new homes, while the total number of UK housing transactions increased by 10% in 2020 alone. More well-located sites need to be brought through the planning process so that quality new homes can be delivered to meet the needs of locals and those wishing to relocate.

“We are looking forward to working with all the local and regional stakeholders to promote the benefits this land opportunity could deliver to the Upper Midway community and the town of Swadlincote.”
