Law firm closes office in move towards full-time remote working

Law firm Freeths has closed its Stoke office and expanded its Derby base as part of a move towards what it is calling “agile working”.

The decision comes after an internal review of the firm’s office portfolio and the retirement of Peter Gavin in the Freeths Stoke office last year. Staff from Stoke will now work entirely remotely and have the choice to visit the firm’s Derby, Birmingham or Manchester offices if they need to.

At the same time, Freeths has taken additional space at its Cardinal Square offices in Derby.

National managing partner, Karl Jansen said: “We would like to thank Peter for all his achievements over his many years with Freeths. He has put together an excellent team in the region and we are fully committed to supporting them, and our Stoke and Staffordshire clients, in the long term.

“The pandemic has proven we can still offer excellent and immediate service, while working remotely, and our lawyers are enjoying the benefits of a more flexible working environment. Moving to a more modern and progressive office platform will ensure benefits for both clients and our people, which is why we feel it is important to move forward and continue to embrace all the benefits which technology offers.”

Freeths has 12 offices in Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Oxford and Sheffield.
