New finance boss joins managed workspace provider

Talvinder Shanker

Managed office firm Connect Derby has appointed a new finance boss.

Talvinder Shanker joins from The University of Derby as finance manager, where she worked for two years. Prior to that she spent more than 17 years at Derby College.

In her new role, Shanker will be responsible for budgeting, rent rolls, processing purchase invoices and invoicing tenants across the Connect Derby portfolio – from new builds at Friar Gate Studios, Sadler Bridge Studios and the iHub innovation centre on Infinity Park, to restored and refurbished buildings at Marble Hall, Riverside Chambers, Shot Tower and Kings Chambers.

Ann Bhatti, head of Connect Derby, said: “We’d like to welcome Talvindar to the Connect Derby management team. Despite joining us during another national lockdown and the challenges that brings, she has quickly adapted to her new role and is already making a positive impact.

“She has extensive experience in finance, and we look forward to benefiting from her considerable knowledge and experience.”

Shanker added: “I am thrilled to have joined Connect Derby. Everyone in the management team has been very welcoming, and I hope I can continue to ensure we offer the highest levels of service to our suppliers and tenants at our seven buildings across the city.

“The managed workspace sector is quite a diversion from my previous role in the education sector, but I am really enjoying this new challenge. My new role is very varied, and I am using the skills developed over the past two decades to bring new ideas to the team.”
