Boots to cut up to 300 jobs at Beeston HQ

Pharma giant Boots has revealed plans to cut up to 300 jobs from its Beeston base.

The axe will fall mainly on office roles and follows the news that it was shutting one of its Nottingham city centre outlets earlier this week.

A consultation with staff lasting six months will now begin.

Boots UK managing director Seb James told Nottinghamshire Live: “The events of the last year have changed consumer behaviours forever and we must adapt our business to meet these new needs.

“This means investing in our digital business, serving customers more efficiently and, above all, becoming much swifter and more agile.

“I am acutely aware that this structural change will be difficult for our amazing team in Nottingham and we will do everything we can to make sure that we support and help anybody who is affected.”

The news follows a move last year to cut 4,000 jobs after Covid restrictions hit its retail performance hard.
