Plans revealed to demolish city centre pub to make way for student scheme

Plans to demolish a pub in Nottingham city centre and replace it with a student accommodation scheme have been revealed.

Punch Pubs wants to knock down the Nottingham Legend venue, next to the National Ice Arena, and replace it with 40 self-contained apartments across a part-three/part-six storey building designed by Cordage.

There will also be space to store 40 cycles.

A planning statement accompanying the planning application states: “The current property compromises a detached two-storey 1960s building with brick elevations beneath a flat roof. The current aesthetic of the building does not support the modern design of the National Ice Centre which is finished in cladding. The design of the student accommodation has been created in such a way to complement the existing architecture.”
