Student flats plan for former carpet retail site

Plans for a new student scheme that would house 54 people have been revealed.

The S&S Developer Group wants to build the scheme at 129-131 High Road to include a four-storey development that would include nine houses of multiple occupation.

The plans incude demolishing a former carpet store to build the scheme designed by Julian Owen Associates.

A statement from the architect said: “The proposed development will create a new high quality building, making a positive contribution the area.

“The building has been designed to relate well to the existing properties along Marlborough Road, blending the traditional and contemporary elements of the street together.

“The high quality of the finishes of the materials used for the construction and the contemporary, efficient design help to improve the visual character of this part of Beeston.”
