200 Degrees expands into Manchester

Where 200 Degree will be based

Nottingham-based coffee roaster 200 Degrees Coffee is set to open its 12th coffee shop in The Hybrid Building, Mosley Street, Manchester towards the end of May.

The 80-seat shop will be on the ground floor of the new office development just off St Peter’s Square, next door to the Art Gallery, and will create 15 new full-time and part time jobs.

200 Degrees director, Tom Vincent, said: “It may seem a bit strange to open a coffee shop in a city full of great coffee shops at a time like this but we hope our independent feel and relaxed, comfortable style will add something memorable to the city. We’re also keen to show off our own hand roasted coffee and tempt people with our freshly made sandwiches and vegan brownies.

“We’ve wanted to bring 200 Degrees to Manchester for many years and have finally found the perfect location – we’re excited to share this new design which for the first time will see our Barista School in the heart of the shop.

“Our Barista Schools are very popular with enthusiasts and professionals alike and we offer courses ranging from simple home brew methods to advanced barista techniques. With this one we’ve expanded our partnerships with Sage Appliances and also Victoria Arduino, who make the world’s best coffee machines, and they will be installing four Eagle One Prima espresso machines to learn on. We aim to make this one of the best barista schools in the UK with a full range of courses, talks from experts, machine demonstrations and regular barista throw downs where we’ll invite all of the baristas in the area to compete for some very desirable plastic trophies. We hope it’s going to be something quite special for everyone to enjoy.”

Giovanni Fucili from Victoria Arduino, added: “Once quarantine is over and Italians can freely visit the UK again, I look forward to going clubbing at the Hacienda.”
