Pub group resurrects plan for new Nottingham bars

Stonegate Pub Company has resurrected plans to turn its Squares bar in Nottingham city centre into two new venues.

The company has applied for a license to transform the popular pub into Stonegate’s Popworld late-night bar brand, while the ground floor will be turned into Huddl, a sports bar with kitchen.

Stonegate first revealed plans to revamp Squares in March last year, just before the Covid pandemic hit the hospitality sector so hard. Then the company said it would be spending £500,000 on an internal refurbishment that would include new DJ booth on the ground floor as well as a reduction in size of the bar. On the upper floor, alterations include adding a VIP area, dancefloor and DJ booth.
