Property people: FHP; Mather Jamie

Reece Pritchard and Steve Bicknell

FHP Property Consultants has made two new hires to its business rates team.

Steve Bicknell joins the company as a specialist rating consultant, following a 31-year career with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).

Bicknell will be based at FHP’s Nottingham office and will have responsibility for advising FHP’s portfolio of national shopping centre clients on how best to reduce their business rates liabilities, including empty rates mitigation and rateable value appeals.

He will also work with a number of fire and rescue authorities in relation to their business rates liabilities.

Reece Pritchard joins FHP as a business rates account manager and will deliver a range of services to the consultancy’s shopping centre clients, including bill management and forecasting, covering business rates and empty property rates liabilities.

Alastair Fearn, director FHP said: “We are very happy to have added Steve and Reece to our team. To have someone with Steve’s knowledge and experience from inside the VOA is invaluable. Reece brings a unique set of skills that we did not have previously in the business, which will enable us to offer a broader range of services to our clients and improve the rates forecasting work that we undertake.”

Andy Smith and Jon Steel

Andy Smith has joined Loughborough based commercial property consultancy Mather Jamie as business manager.

Smith joins the company from consulting engineers Rodgers Leask and prior to that spent 18 years working at Bombardier in various roles including systems integration manager.

He will be taking over from Jon Steel who joined the firm on a part time basis back in September 2019 after a 40 year career in banking. Steel is retiring and will be transferring all responsibilities to Smith who will be working full-time.

Smith said: “Mather Jamie is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021 and has a fantastic reputation for delivering a high quality director led service. I’m thrilled to be taking over from Jon who has helped the firm further improve and strengthen its risk management, quality control and compliance processes and I look forward to maintaining these standards whilst driving more continuous improvement.”
