Fire which destroyed baby gifts business HQ treated as arson

A fire which destroyed the headquarters of an East Midlands baby gifts business last weekend is being treated as arson.

The blaze ripped through the Brackmills distribution hub of My 1st Years, a firm which sells personalised baby gifts and employs 150 people.

At the height of the blaze eight appliances from Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue were at the scene, including one high volume pump, two aerial appliances and two water bowsers.

A spokesperson from My 1 Years said: “We are aware that the fire at Brackmills Industrial Estate is being treated as arson and we welcome the announcement of a police investigation. In the meantime, we can confirm that we have now issued refunds to around 1,400 customers who had orders outstanding, which we were unable to fulfil as a result of the fire.”

My 1st Years employed 150 people at the site.
