Lincoln Cathedral awards café contract to family-run firm

Lincoln Cathedral has announced that Meadow Brown Restaurants has secured the contract to run Lincoln Cathedral Café.

The café, which is due to open this summer, will be located in the Old Deanery Visitor Centre which has been at the heart of a £16m restoration project over the last five years.

Meadow Brown is an independent, family-owned business which operates several cafés and restaurants at locations including Nene Park and Nottingham Castle.

Will Harrison, chapter clerk of Lincoln Cathedral said that the announcement of the partnership was an important milestone in the development of the Cathedral’s new visitor centre.

He added: “We are very much looking forward to working with Meadow Brown and seeing the Old Deanery Visitor Centre begin to come to life following the years of hard work which have led up to this point. The new space is fresh, modern and welcoming, and retains many period details which create a unique atmosphere imbued with history.

“Hospitality is at the heart of the Cathedral’s mission and the setting of the café, overlooking the recently landscaped Dean’s green, offers an inviting atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy the delicious and nourishing food and drink that Meadow Brown’s team will provide.”

Raj Regmi, managing cirector of Meadow Brown said: “Meadow Brown Restaurants are delighted to be the chosen catering partner at Lincoln Cathedral. The historical building alongside the recent investment makes Lincoln Cathedral an attractive destination, where we believe we can provide customers a memorable experience when they visit. As a company we are grateful to have been given the opportunity to run such a prestigious site, in the heart of Lincoln.

“We have a proud history of using local produce and suppliers, which we will continue at Lincoln Cathedral. We believe we have the right attitude to deliver the best service; it is what we pride ourselves upon. Our menu will feature popular local items cooked to order by our skilled team of chefs, and the service will be delivered to the highest standard by our friendly front of house team.

“We are excited to get the café open to visitors and cannot wait to welcome you all.”

Lincoln Cathedral Café and Lincoln Cathedral Shop will be the first parts of the Old Deanery Visitor Centre to open, with further spaces and exhibits following later in the year.
