Law firm Howes Percival has announced a further expansion of its Leicester Corporate, Commercial and Banking (CCB) practice, with two new senior appointments.

Danielle Chetwynd and Jeremy Hyde have joined the team as senior associates in the Corporate team from Freeths and Wright Hassall, respectively.

Jahid Ali, corporate partner in the Leicester office, said: “We have invested in our corporate, commercial and banking team and, as a result, both our National and our Leicester practices have grown considerably in the last few years. We’ve seen a significant increase in the number, quality and size of deals we are asked to advise on, and our ambition is to continue to further develop our CCB offering and client base.

“The last 12 months have been very busy indeed with a lot of sellers coming to the market, for a range reasons, including those looking to de-risk. There is also a lot of money available to support deals. The team has performed incredibly well during the pandemic and we are feeling very positive about the rest of this year and beyond. We are certainly looking to carry on growing and I am delighted to welcome Danielle and Jeremy to Howes Percival.”

Jamie Clapham

Loughborough University has announced that former Premier League player Jamie Clapham will take over as its new men’s football head coach.

Clapham made over 500 appearances in his professional football career, playing for such clubs as Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Leicester City.

He played an integral part in the Ipswich Town side that won promotion to the Premier League in 1999/2000, going on to play in the UEFA Cup during two successive campaigns whilst at the Suffolk club.

In 2002 he transferred to Birmingham City, where he spent a further four seasons in the Premier League with Blues.

Following his retirement from the game in 2012, Clapham moved into a coaching role at the academy of Championship club Middlesbrough, before becoming assistant coach of the first team in 2013.

Clapham then joined Coventry City’s coaching team in 2015 before joining Barnsley as first team coach a year later. Most recently, he was at Leeds United as assistant coach to Paul Heckingbottom.

The 45-year-old former left back will begin his new role at Loughborough in June, helping nurture the next level of University football talent.

He said: “Loughborough is a university that is steeped in tradition of elite sport performance and that was a huge draw when it came to applying for the role.

“Throughout my career, I’ve experienced the highs and lows of football which will hopefully allow me to see things from a different viewpoint. I see myself as a developer of people, a huge advocate of core values, and I already know there is a lot of talent in this group.

“I’m excited to build upon the fantastic foundations already in place here and take the football offer to the next level.”

Sian Morley

Pall-Ex Group has welcomed a new marketing manager to the team.

Sian Morley joins the team, bringing with her 18 years of experience in the marketing industry.

She is responsible for the marketing of Pall-Ex (UK), Fortec Distribution Network, the UK membership of both networks and the brand’s international portfolio.

She said: “This is my first role within logistics and there has been a lot to learn since my first day at the start of April.

“My time with agencies and working with big name companies has given me the tools I need to support the team and help our members achieve growth.”

Becky Jolly and Ben Palmby

Lincoln-based telecoms provider, Bluecube, has added to its team and customer service offering with the appointment of two new members of staff.

Ben Palmby joins the business as sales and account manager and Becky Jolly joins the technical support team at Bluecube.

Paul Reames, managing director at Bluecube, said: “We have worked hard during the past year to keep up with the demand for working from home and flexible communication systems.

“With businesses beginning to return to the office we are still seeing many choose to keep some staff members working remotely. For the most part, our customers are giving their staff the option to work remotely at least some of the time and to do that they require a more flexible communications strategy. Consequently, this year continues to be incredibly busy for Bluecube as well as the industry as a whole.”
