People: WDA; Axess Systems

Matt Baguley

Derby-based automotive marketing firm WDA has hired Matt Baguley.

Baguley is tasked with primarily delivering content-driven video to support the wider automotive marketing team with edited and optimised video for online publication, including social media.

He will be working on a range of projects including tutorial videos, short-form, brand building videos, interview pieces and motorsport coverage.

“Video has been one of the busiest areas for the agency in recent months,” said WDA’s Gemma Lovett.

She added: “Video is really opening up, driven by both consumer and technology; and as a result demand for good quality video content is just increasing. It’s awesome to have Matt on board to give us even more video firepower.”

A Derbyshire IT firm has strengthened its workforce by bringing in a new member to the marketing team.

Axess Systems, which is based on the Denby Hall Business Park, has appointed University of Derby graduate James Walker as its marketing executive. The 23-year-old becomes Axess Systems’ fifth new appointment in less than 12 months, joining Mike Smith, Ian Dickerson, Josh Young and Greg Cork.

Walker previously worked as a marketing intern with Derby charity Safe & Sound. He achieved a first-class honours in his undergraduate degree and a distinction in a marketing management post-graduate course.

He said: “I’m looking forward to working with Axess Systems at an exciting time of growth for the business. IT is a sector which, at the moment, is very much needed.

“The past 12 months for me, personally, have been a challenge as, due to coronavirus, I’ve had to cut short an internship and, since August, have been unemployed.

“But the skills I have learned during my time at the University of Derby are transferrable into my new role and I cannot wait to get stuck in.”
