Nigel Rowlson

Nigel Rowlson, managing director of Nottingham-based creative agency The Dairy, has been officially unveiled as the new president of Nottingham City Business Club (NCBC).

Formed in 1924, NCBC is the oldest business club outside of London and was created as a member organisation to provide a forum where people can discuss business and social interest matters through regular lunches.

Rowlson has enjoyed a 41-year career in marketing and advertising after working for agencies in Nottingham, London and Leicester. He formed The Dairy in 2002.

He said: “I’m excited to be working with the council, our members and the local business community to continue to raise the profile of the Club. Nottingham is home to a strong economy and by working together, we can help the city to prosper and become a stronger home for commerce, innovation and success.”

Two highly experienced members of the teaching staff at a 222-year-old independent Derbyshire school have been promoted to join its senior leadership team.

Keri Moorhouse, Cath McBeth and Jeff Shipway

With almost 40 years of loyal service at Ockbrook School between them, Keri Moorhouse and Cath McBeth will take on new roles from September. Moorhouse is promoted to deputy head, whilst McBeth is promoted to director of studies.

Jeff Shipway, head teacher, said: “Helen Springall has been a friendly face around Ockbrook School since 2014. She will be resigning from her post as deputy head at May half-term, though she will continue to teach her A Level classes through to the end of the academic year. I know that pupils and parents will want to join me in wishing her a long and happy retirement.

“I am looking forward to working very closely with Mrs Moorhouse and Mrs McBeth going forward. They have both been part of the thriving Ockbrook School community over the last 20 years. Together, we have exciting plans to move the school into the next era.”

Julie Skill – LLP member and head of the Family Department at law firm Elliot Mather – has been appointed as president of the Derby Law Society.

Skill has practised family law since 1989 and has been with the firm since she was a paralegal.

She said: “I am extremely proud to even have been considered for the role and I am thankful for the nomination to be chosen. To have my name added to the list of such esteemed predecessors is an absolute privilege and honour. Although I am taking over the role of President at a very unique and somewhat bizarre time, I am dedicated to ensuring that I do justice to the position.”
