Logistics firm to create 1,200 jobs as controversial expansion plans get go-ahead

Griffen UK's 1.65m sq ft Desford Campus is let to US-based third-party logistics company Neovia

Plans to extend an logistics site in Leicestershire has been approved in a move that will create 1,200 jobs.

Neovia will add 915,000 sq ft to its hub, off Peckleton Lane, just outside Desford after Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council’s planning committee have the go-ahead for the expansion.

It’s the second time that Neovia have tried to extend their base at the site; the first planning application was refused permission after complaints from surrounding residents. This latest attempt also caused controversy among those living near the site, but their attempts to block the scheme have failed.

Neovia operates more than 100 logistics facilities in over 20 countries. The firm’s global headquarters is in Texas.
