Developer to create 15 jobs with apartment scheme

The premises in Ilkeston

A Derby-based developer has bought a derelict retail building in Ilkeston and has revealed plans to turn it into seven apartments.

Duro Design and Build bought the Bath Street site at auction recently and works have already started on transforming the building.

Managing Director Matthew Duro said: “It’s great to be investing in the area I grew up in. Ilkeston is such a strong community, I’ve no doubt the local area will benefit from this investment and the quality accommodation we’re creating.”

Work on the upper floors containing seven high-end apartments will start thereafter with new residents expected to move in next year. The apartments are a mixture of one- and two-bedroom homes.

Creative director Emily Duro said “I’m excited to be working on projects in the local area, I enjoy designing practical spaces that look great but are very functional maximising the available space. These apartments are ideal for local people looking for convenient town centre living at a high standard.”

The scheme is expected to create 15 new jobs.
