Plans revealed for 19-storey tower in Nottingham city centre

Early indications of how the scheme would look

Plans for a major scheme that could reach 19-storeys on the Sentinel site in Nottingham city centre have been revealed by developer Jensco.

The scheme would house students and be a part-6, 10 and 19 floor developments that would contain 356 bedroom units made up of 222 cluster rooms, 112 studio apartments and 22 studio suites.

A screening and scoping opinion document has been submitted to Nottingham City Council by Planning and Design Group. Architect on the scheme is CPMG.

The site has had a colourful history in recent times. Jensco bought the site in May of this year from Leeds-based KMRE, which shelved plans to build 183 student apartments on the site in August of last year.

That building was planned to be 15 storeys in places.

Sentinel House was previously three-storey light industrial works, with a goods yard at the east end of the site. It was demolished in 2008 and the site has been vacant since. It is unsurfaced and in temporary use as a car park.

Planning permission for a mixed-use office and retail scheme has been twice approved (in 2007 and 2011) – but the scheme was neither time built.
