Family law firm calls in administrators

Parveen Attri led the rescue deal of DBS Law three years ago

A Midlands law firm which closed its Nottingham office last year has been placed into administration.

PKA Legal, which traded as DBS Law, DBS Plus, Claim Today Solicitors and CTS Claim Today Solicitors, has called in administrators from Opus Restructuring.

The firm, which is based out of Birmingham, closed its Nottingham office, which traded under the DBS Law brand at Gothic House, Barker Gate, last year. The decision, it said, was made with “a heavy heart”, but that its East Midlands team would continue to service clients in the region remotely from home and its Birmingham office.

DBS was bought out of administration by PKA Legal three years ago in a deal led by Parveen Attri. Before that it had embarked on a buy and build expansion strategy, acquiring Andersons in 2013.

In its most recent accounts, made up to the end of September 2019, PKA Legal was owed £757,576 and owed creditors £620,763. It employed 25 people at the time.
