People: Nottingham firms invest in young talent

Global design, planning and engineering firm Arup has welcomed a fresh intake of apprentices and newly qualified graduates in its Nottingham office.

Two recently recruited apprentice technicians and two new university graduates are now part of the 100-plus strong city team.

Four further Nottingham-based apprentices have also recently completed their part-time degrees with the company.

John Read, Nottingham office leader at Arup, said: “We are delighted that they are with us and look forward to seeing their careers develop as they take advantage of the enormous opportunities that working for Arup can provide.

“It’s hugely important to be able to attract and train the next generation of engineers and technicians. We’re very proud that our role in recruiting local apprentices continues to pay dividends.”

Daniel Rowley

Nottingham-based Your IT Department have further boosted its technical team with the appointment of a new team member.

Daniel Rowley has joined the business as an apprentice technician. The latest appointment brings the total staff at Your IT to 17.

Lee Hewson, managing director, said: “We’re really happy to have Daniel on board and to continue our commitment to developing young people through the Apprenticeship programme. Apprenticeships have been a fantastic way for us to bring young people into the business and the industry. I’m certain Daniel will be another huge asset to the business. He has settled in really well and has already shown a fantastic work ethic.”
