Plans to turn the former Bendigo pub in the Sneinton area of Nottingham into 14 flats have been thrown out by Nottingham City Council planning bosses.

Planning permission had been sought for extensions and conversion of the building – which had last been used as a restaurant – to fourteen flats, made up of seven flats on the ground floor, six-one bed studio flats and one being a two-bed flat. The
first floor would be extended and contain a further seven one-bed studio flats.

The plans, submitted by Zain Khan, show that the first floor would be extended on its northern and western sides, above existing flat roofed areas.

Planning chiefs at Nottingham City Council objected to the appearance of the new scheme, the fact that the flats would be too small to comply with national standards and the fact that the developer refused to comply with a Section 106 agreement amounting to a payment of £63,231.09 towards affordable housing and “open space enhancement”.
