Plans revealed for new warehouse complex that could create 500 jobs

How the scheme will look

Some 500 jobs could be created after plans were revealed by Barwood Capital to build a 375,000 sq ft warehouse and office complex next to Bulwell Golf Course on the Blenheim Industrial Estate.

The plans outline a new speculatively-built scheme on Firth Way, with 351 car parking spaces and 55 trailer bays. It is being designed by C4 Architects.

A statement from C4 Architects said: “The proposed development provides an attractive modern and high quality B2/B8 industrial/warehouse unit that will be attractive to the occupier market whilst also addressing relevant site design constraints and adopting a sustainable approach to the design philosophy whilst also addressing relevant planning considerations.

“In our view the proposal will provide a modern unit which addresses relevant policy considerations in the context of ‘design & access’ and accords with government guidance.”

Edward Henson, director and head of transactions at Barwood Capital said:  “With the support of the City of Nottingham, we are looking forward to creating first class, sustainable logistics accommodation in an area where there’s currently no available units above 300,000 sq ft. Meeting this demand will offer jobs and opportunities to many local residents as we continue to emerge from the Coronavirus pandemic.”

The project is aiming to achieve Net Zero Carbon in Construction and a BREEAM Excellent Rating.
