Plans to turn vacant office space above a recently-closed Sainsbury’s supermarket have taken a step forward, over two-and-a-half years after they were first mooted.

A planning application to erect signage on 85 Carrington Street has been approved Nottingham City Council.

The ground floor of the building was, up until late last year, a Sainsbury’s supermarket. The store has now closed.

The plans to turn the upper floors into eight, two-bedroom flats were cleared by council planners in March 2019.

Bruton Knowles submitted plans on behalf of Ash Bhatia, owner of Bhatia Best Solicitors.

The first floor space has been empty since 2001.
