Lab instrument supplier announces double swoop

Scientific Laboratory Supplies (SLS), the Nottingham-based manufacturer and supplier of laboratory measuring and controlling instruments, has announced two new UK acquisitions – and says it is now looking to expand its geographical footprint even further.

The company has acquired Gem Scientific, a laboratory equipment distributor based in West Yorkshire, and Northern Balance, which provides weighing solutions focussed on calibration, servicing and maintenance from its base in Gateshead, for undisclosed sums.

Both companies will continue to operate as independent entities and retain all their employees.

SLS is looking to make further acquisitions and recruit more staff following the double swoop, and says it has its sights set on expansion in Ireland and East Africa.
