200 up for indie coffee chain

Vlad Deliu

Nottingham-based indie coffee roaster, 200 Degrees, has reached a significant milestone – by taking on its 200th member of staff.

Vlad Deliu is the 200th person to join the company and has been welcomed as general manager at the speciality roaster’s Leicester coffee shop.

Rob Darby, CEO of 200 Degrees, said: “I learnt a long time ago to surround yourself with good people and we have done a great job on that. We are lucky to have a wonderful team who really care about our quality, the guest experience and who uphold our values.”

“It’s brilliant that we have grown our team to 200 – and counting) – it feels like a significant milestone and we want to acknowledge and celebrate it.

“200 Degrees has seen growth in all areas of the business and we continue with our plans to open five shops a year. With each new shop, we hire between 12 – 15 new people and so over a course of a year, we will be hiring between 60 – 90 team members, as we also grow our roastery and central operations teams – so it won’t be long until we are announcing our 300th person!

“I’d like to welcome Vlad and say a big thank you to all our people who really are at the heart of all 200 Degrees is and does.”

Darby was recently named as Company Leader of the Year (100+ employees) at the TheBusinessDesk.com’s East Midlands Leadership Awards 2022, as well as overall Leader of the Year.

Deliu said: “I’ve had a great journey so far with 200 Degrees, and I have to say that working here is a lifestyle not a job, coffee runs through our veins.

“It’s an inspiring place to work as there is so much passion and skill poured into every cup, and being the 200th member to join the team is a great milestone to be a part of.”

200 Degrees’ coffee offering is centred around its signature Brazilian Love Affair espresso blend and is complimented by its breakfast and lunch, food and drink offering. The menu comprises of freshly prepared sandwiches, pastries and cakes plus a range of soft drinks, fruit smoothies and milkshakes.

Darby and his business partner, Tom Vincent, founded 200 Degrees in 2012 after setting up its roastery on Meadow Lane, opposite Notts County Football Stadium. Since then, they have expanded its footprint across the Midlands, North and Wales.
