Nottinghamshire town bags £21.1m to fund six regeneration schemes

Six much-needed regeneration projects in Stapleford are set to go ahead after the Towns Fund Board secured £21.1m in Town Deal Funding from the Government.

In March this year it was announced that the Nottinghamshire town would be one of 100 to receive up to £25m from the Government’s £3.6bn Towns Deal.

The projects include a new community hub and young people’s centre, an enterprise hub, a library learning facility and plans to improve the town’s streets and cycling infrastructure.

The £1m Town Centre Recovery Grant Scheme, which aims to help Stapleford’s high street businesses get back on track, will also go ahead.

Ian Jowett, chair of Stapleford Towns Fund Board, said: “Stapleford is a fantastic town with huge potential and our residents deserve better facilities, more opportunities and brighter prospects.

“This £21.1m Towns Fund grant is the biggest investment the town has seen for a long time and we can’t wait to get started on our projects that we know will make a huge difference to all our communities.”
