Clothing giant to double its footprint at Derbion

H&M at Derbion

A popular store at Derby’s flagship retail and leisure destination Derbion is set to double in size later this year.

Clothing retailer H&M will temporarily close its doors today (17 July) before reopening on level 2 of the shopping centre in the autumn.

Its expanded premises will total 25,000 sq ft and bring the H&M Kids and H&M Home brands under the same roof as its women’s and menswear offerings.

The current H&M Kids store will remain open while work takes place.

H&M will take over an adjacent unit previously occupied by River Island, which is also set to expand its footprint at the centre by more than a third later this summer.

Toni Galli, H&M UK & IE country manager, said: “We’re excited to be significantly increasing our space at Derbion and look forward to shoppers seeing our new-look store when we open later this year.

“With the much wider ranges of H&M available in one place, including our expansive Home collection, we’re confident our new store will offer our customers a fantastic shopping experience.”

Adam Tamsett, centre director at Derbion, added: “This significant upsize for H&M demonstrates that brands are investing and are keen to expand their presence in Derbion.

“We’re delighted to announce H&M’s expansion and to be able to offer the retailer’s highly desirable home products and bring children’s clothing into the same store, so that everything is all in one incredible, contemporary space.”
