IT firm sets £2.5m target as it passes quarter century

An Ilkeston-based managed IT services provider is looking to celebrate a quarter of a century in business by breaking through the £2.5m turnover barrier.

IDT has been steadily adding new recruits since managing director Luke Draper and technical director James Cartwright completed an MBO three years ago, and now says it is ramping up its apprenticeship programme to help it achieve the ambitious target.

Draper, who was named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year at this year’s East Midlands Leadership Awards, said: “Since our ‘in-house relaunch’ almost three years ago, we’ve come such a long way in terms of where the business was and where we are today it’s almost unrecognisable and we are excited about what IDT can become.

“Saying you are different from your competitors is easy, as most businesses do it – proving it and continuing to work at it daily is where you show it not only our customers to our own team.

“25 Years has gone like a blink, I can still remember sitting at home for hours trying to come up with a name and logo for the business and I can’t remember how but IDT just somehow stuck.”

Cartwright said: “Myself and Luke are so proud of what we’ve created here and It would be nice to know that when IDT gets to 50 as I know it will, mine and Luke’s legacy and ethos will still underpin the business.”

IDT has a long history of supporting local sporting initiatives.

The company works extensively with the Notts County Foundation to help provide support to some of Nottinghamshire’s most disadvantaged young people.

Draper added: “James and I are both driven by making IDT the best it can be and that’s not just bigger with more clients; it’s the best for our staff, the best for our clients, the best for our partners, and the best for our community.”
