Senior operations manager steps up at listed brickmaker

Steve Jeynes

Forterra has appointed a new production director whom its CEO has described as a “great asset” to the company.

Steve Jeynes has been promoted to director level after spending nearly eight years with the Leicestershire-headquartered brickmaker, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange and employs 1,800 people across the UK.

He will be based at the company’s site at Kirton, near Newark.

Jeynes initially joined Forterra in 2014 when it was still known as Hanson Building Products, starting out as plant manager at the firm’s Peterborough site before taking on responsibility for its plants at Desford and Kirton.

His most recent role as senior operations manager saw Jeynes take charge of all nine of Forterra’s brickmaking sites.

He said: “Throughout my career I’ve always loved making things, and making people better, so this role fits my profile perfectly. People are the most important component of every business, and my biggest motivator is watching them progress.

“It’s been incredible to see the company grow parallel to my own professional development, and I couldn’t imagine a more exciting time to achieve this promotion. With the anticipation of the new Desford and Wilnecote sites as well as the progress we’re making on a sustainability front via a significant solar farm investment, I can’t wait to see what’s next for the company.”

Forterra CEO Stephen Harrison added: “Steve is a great asset to Forterra and we’re delighted that he has stepped into the role of production director, to continue doing what he does best by bringing out the best in our teams. With lots of exciting projects on the horizon for Steve and the company, we’re sure he’ll continue to have a long and successful career here.”
