Beloved bakery brand reveals expansion plans

Mike Holling of Birds Bakery

Birds Bakery has unveiled plans to open a 1,200 sq ft store in Netherfield, Nottingham – and says it is looking at even more new locations across the East Midlands.

The much-loved bakery chain is expected to create eight jobs at its new site on Teal Business Park, which is located off Colwick Loop Road.

FHP Property Consultants sealed the deal to bring Birds to the Nottingham suburb.

The company was founded in 1919 and has been providing sweet and savoury treats to families in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire ever since.

Teal Park is Birds’ 63rd store and its 25th in Nottinghamshire.

The new outlet is due to open in early September.

Mike Holling, sales and marketing director at Birds Bakery, said: “Teal Park is an exciting new location for us and we’re looking forward to being part of a growing community. After the last few years, it’s great to see so many new businesses opening their doors in the area and we can’t wait to join them and, of course, welcome eight new people to the Birds team.

“We will be focusing our offering on food to go, with delicious, freshly made hot and filled rolls, savoury snacks and sweet treats. We will once again be partnering with 200 Degrees for our coffee offering, which has proven incredibly popular in many of our other stores and shows our commitment to working with other local businesses and suppliers.”

Holling added: “The new opening forms part of our expansion plans, with discussions about more new stores in other locations across the East Midlands already underway.”
