The Nottinghamshire unveils plans for ‘stunning’ new golf centre
The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club has submitted plans to upgrade its driving range and create a new golf centre which long-time owner Alan Hardy says will be “stunning if approved.”
Under the plans, the Club intends to add an additional storey to the side and rear of its existing facility in order to create a purpose-built centre for the teaching of golf.
The new centre would include five indoor teaching bays, a multi-purpose room, a new ball store, an office, toilets and a golf simulator.
A planning application submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council indicates that the facility would have an expanded internal floor area of 287 sq m.
The Club is expected to create “at least” four additional jobs if the plans – which also include the re-planning of its car park – are green lit.
The Nottinghamshire has a thriving Academy set-up, with demand for classes “growing all the time” according to Hardy.
Planning documents submitted to Rushcliffe explicitly state that the new golf centre is designed to meet this demand and enhance the Club’s teaching and coaching facilities.
Alan Hardy has owned the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club since 2010. In that time he has presided over a number of major transformations including the creation of a new access road, a refurbished bar and the introduction of new water harvesting lakes.
In a social media post announcing the plans, Hardy said that “investment at the Nottinghamshire comes in all shapes and sizes.”
The scheme has been designed by architects at Nottingham-based Maber.
In a statement, Maber said the proposed development would provide “much enhanced” teaching facilities.
The firm added that the provision of a purpose-built golf centre would “enhance the quality and range of recreation facilities at the Club” and said the scheme would improve the setting of the Grade II listed Manor House at the site.
The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club is situated around 5 miles South East of Nottingham city centre and approximately 2 miles to the North West of Cotgrave.
