Derbyshire packaging manufacturer acquired by global group

The UK arm of bespoke packaging group Tri-Wall has snapped up the Chesterfield firm

A Chesterfield-based supplier of corrugated carboard packaging has been acquired by the UK arm of Tri-Wall, the global bespoke packaging group.

The Corrugated Case Company (CCC) has supplied packaging to clients in the retail, food & drink, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors since its formation in 1996.

Tri-Wall, meanwhile, is headquartered in Hong Kong and runs its UK operation out of Monmouth, Wales.

Banner Jones, the Chesterfield-headquartered law firm, advised CCC’s shareholders on their side of the deal, including all aspects of the share disposal and the separate sale of the business’ trading premises.

BHP Corporate Finance (BHPCF) acted as lead advisor to CCC, running a “competitive” sales process which resulted in the selection of Tri-Wall as the preferred bidder.

Tony Hession, chairman of CCC, said: “Having recently celebrated CCC’s 25th birthday, we are immensely proud to be to be handing ownership over to Tri-Wall. Throughout the acquisition process it’s been evident that the ethics, ethos and values of our businesses are completely aligned.”

Gavin Peters, UK CEO of Tri-Wall, said: “This is a great opportunity for both CCC and Tri-Wall to expand and grow into a stronger position. With CCC on board, we enlarge our footprint, both geographically and in product range, positioning us as the go-to supplier for all things packaging.”

Andrew Fielder at Banner Jones said: “As longstanding clients of Banner Jones it was a pleasure to assist Tony and Mark [Wilcockson, CEO] with the sale of the business that they have worked so hard to develop. All of the professionals involved in the transaction worked very much in partnership, and I am sure that the business will continue to grow and succeed under Tri Wall’s ownership.”

Kevin Davies, partner at BHPCF, added: “Tony and Mark have developed a fabulous business in CCC, which has been perfectly positioned to take advantage of the acceleration of the home delivery market and the ‘green agenda’ shift away from plastic packaging. We are delighted to have delivered this transaction for them both and feel sure that CCC will continue to prosper under Tri Wall’s ownership.”
