First venue opens in Nottingham’s £1bn Island Quarter

The first venue has opened in the £1bn Island Quarter in Nottingham.

Binks Yard is an all-day food, drinks and entertainment destination, offering a craft beer selection, a wine bar with an outside kiosk and a grill restaurant with wood-fired pizzas, tacos, pinchos, sharing platters and salads as well as a breakfast menu.

The venue, headed up by MasterChef: The Professionals champion Laurence Henry, will also offer weekly tequila and taco nights, vinyl DJ nights, as well as resident DJs and live performances at weekends.

The outside plaza has an all-weather bandstand for local bands, dance and classical acts as well as a 23 ft screen.

Some of the acts already confirmed for Live at Binks are X Factor winner Sam Bailey; The Red-Hot Chilli Pipers, a Scottish tribute act complete with bagpipes; and pianist and vocalist Tom Seals.

Binks Yard has seating for 170 inside at the bar and in the restaurant, plus more than 50 seats outside, and capacity for 500 people at the bandstand and plaza.

Head chef Lee Coates said: “The team and I are really excited to launch our menu and see what our guests choose. So much thought has gone into each dish, we can’t wait to see what people think.
“As a Nottingham lad, I am pleased to be part of this project and be helping to bring something new to the city – from the building, bandstand and plaza, to the amazing menus and the acts booked in for Live at Binks. I’m looking forward to watching it grow and welcoming customers though our doors.”

John Whitehead, food, beverage and events project director, said: “Everyone involved in Binks Yard has worked really hard to get us to this point; from the building itself to the amazing menu, to the acts booked for Live at Binks. We all believe passionately in what we’ve created and can’t wait to see people enjoying the results.”
