Major regeneration scheme takes a step forward as commercial units hit the market

The Condor

Rigby & Co has been instructed to market a pair of commercial units at The Condor, a £37m build-to-rent development in Derby city centre which forms a key part of the Becketwell regeneration scheme.

Grainger plc has tasked the Derby property agency with finding suitable tenants for the ground floor units, which are sized 2,366 sq ft and 4,158 sq ft respectively and suitable for a variety of uses including retail, leisure, office and hospitality.

Both units sit on the ground floor of the new 259-apartment residential block fronting Victoria Street.

They are expected to be ready for occupation by the end of Q1 2023 when The Condor reaches practical completion.

Russell Rigby, managing director of Rigby & Co, said: “We are thrilled that the UK’s largest listed residential landlord has chosen Rigby & Co to find two commercial tenants for The Condor, which is already rapidly transforming the skyline of Derby city centre.

“Having helped put the original deal together on behalf of St James Securities with Grainger, we have in-depth knowledge of the workings of the site and its enormous benefits and are already in discussions with a number of restaurants, cafés and other retailers who are keen to secure representation in the heart of the city centre.”

The second phase of the Becketwell regeneration scheme includes a much-anticipated £45.8m performance venue.

Rigby added: “With Derby’s new 3,500 seat performance venue under construction alongside The Condor, the vibrancy and footfall around this site, at the heart of the historic core of the city centre, will radically change and improve over the next couple of years.”
