Major fundraising dinner for Pakistan Flood Appeal set to take place

A leading Muslim charity is hosting a major fundraising dinner for Pakistan Flood Appeal in Leicester

Al Khair Foundation, with a branch at Evington Valley Road Leicester, will be hosting the 3-course round dinner at The Venue on Friday 7th October. All money raised at the event will go towards their Pakistan Flood Appeal.

The dinners are in aid of the Pakistan Flood Appeal, where AKF’s team remain on the ground and continue to deliver food packs, cooking kits, hygiene packs, water containers, medical support and tents to families affected by the flash floods.

It is estimated that more than one million people have been displaced in Pakistan and some residents are still trapped in their homes as rescue missions continue across Pakistan.

Following the flash floods, 700,000 people in Baluchistan and 303,000 people in Sindh have been displaced.

Pakistan will face major food shortages in the coming weeks and months as it’s believed the floods are worse than those that hit Pakistan in 2010, the deadliest in the country’s history which left more than 2,000 people dead.

Imam Qasim, Founder and Chairman of Al-Khair Foundation, said “We are doing everything we can to continue our work to raise money for the Pakistan flood appeal. Our prayers are with all of our friends in Pakistan and the aim of the dinner is to continuing supporting as much as we can.

“The rain and floods have been catastrophic for the people of Pakistan and we have to show solidarity in times like this.

“We urge the people of Leicester to buy tickets now and show support to such a important cause.

The charity, which was established in 2003, has spent £200m on humanitarian and development projects. It has seven community branches in the UK, and also tackles unemployment, education, women’s empowerment, and domestic violence, as well as delivering international humanitarian aid to disaster-hit and war-torn areas.
