Van Elle powers on with £13m energy sector contract

Nottinghamshire-headquartered ground engineering giant Van Elle has won a £13m contract with an unnamed customer in the energy sector.

In a statement issued this morning (10 October), the Kirkby-in-Ashfield firm told the London Stock Exchange it had been awarded the contract by “a key customer” in the sector.

The multimillion-pound project in the South East follows the award of a similar scheme in the Midlands in May and will be delivered by Van Elle’s general piling division.

The firm says it is due to start on site before Christmas with the contract scheduled to complete mid-way through FY24.

Mark Cutler, chief executive at Van Elle, said: “The energy sector is a particular focus for Van Elle given its long-term growth characteristics and our strong track record. We are very pleased to be announcing a second significant contract award in the sector this year.”

Van Elle returned to the black in the year to 30 April, notching up pre-tax profits of £3.6m following two consecutive years of losses.

Its piling division was cited as having played a key role in the turnaround.
