Global engineering consultancy to create more than 120 jobs in Derby

Expleo has two sites on Pride Park

Global engineering, tech and IT consultancy Expleo has revealed plans to create more than 120 new jobs in Derby as it looks to increase its UK headcount to 1,500 by the end of 2022.

The company, which is headquartered in France and employs around 15,000 people in 30 countries, says it is creating the roles in order to position its two sites on Pride Park as a hub for engineering talent.

Expleo’s UK business has grown rapidly in recent years, striking partnerships with a host of marine and automotive companies as well as leading aerospace manufacturers such as Spirit Aerosystems and Thales.

The firm also has bases in Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, the Isle of Man, London, Preston and Worthing.

Jeff Hoyle, managing director at Expleo UK, said: “We’re seeing great demand for highly skilled engineering talent across all our projects, from combat air to commercial shipping.

“The most sought-after skillsets in the Midlands are in software & systems engineering. And we’re seeing great demand from clients to build regional pools of experienced ship-building designers too.

“As we head towards the end of the year, and look ahead to 2023, we expect demand to increase the most in aerospace – as the industry fully emerges from the impacts of the pandemic. We’ll certainly be looking to recruit more engineers and designers with the right aerospace skillsets in our Midlands hub as a result.”

Hoyle added: “We’re in a candidate-driven market and have been all year – it’s a great time for engineers to grow their careers and take that next step.

“Many engineers don’t want to be stuck working on the same project for years or in some cases decades – we give them the opportunity to work on diverse projects across multiple industries.”
