High street heavyweight takes lease on 224,000 sq ft distribution facility

DIRFT 224

Marks & Spencer has taken the lease on a huge cold storage distribution facility in Northamptonshire.

Logistics real estate giant Logicor has secured a long-term lease for the high street retailer at Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) off Junction 18 of the M1.

M&S will move into the 224,000 sq ft unit at DIRFT 224 at the end of this month.

Anthony McCluskie, director of UK asset management at Logicor, said: “It’s great to work with M&S again to provide this refurbished modern chilled storage for our valued existing customer. The site has undergone a full refurbishment which was delivered on time, ready for M&S to occupy ahead of their Christmas peak. M&S will join a number of blue-chip occupiers at this prime distribution park.”

Located within the UK logistics “golden triangle”, DIRFT is the largest rail freight terminal in the UK.

JLL and Cushman & Wakefield advised Logicor on the deal.

As well as extending its relationship with M&S, the European firm is currently refurbishing a trio of detached warehouses at DIRFT to enhance the sustainability of its assets.
