Specialist recruiter achieves £94m milestone

Pete Taylor

A Leicester recruitment agency that became part of one of the largest staffing solutions companies in the world earlier this year has capped a stellar 2022 by besting its previous turnover record.

Encore Personnel notched up a cool £94m during a year which saw it expand into the North West and launch a new engineering division in Derby before being snapped up by global recruitment giant Gi Group Holding at the beginning of October.

Pete Taylor, managing director at Encore, said: “2022 has been an historic year for our business as we flourished and expanded our reach despite a myriad of adverse recruiting conditions. To be forecasting a record turnover figure of nearly £100m is not only testament to the ceaseless hard work and dedication of our people across the business’s divisions, but also to the fact that we will always push on to be the very best recruitment partner for our customers old and new.

“The fact that we have joined forces with a forward-thinking global presence in Gi Group Holding with ambitious investment and growth plans is indicative of how successful our teams have been over the last 20 years. It was always my preference, should Encore be acquired, that it would be by a world-class recruitment leader in our sector, that shared our vision and cultural values. This is very evident with Gi Group Holding and we are excited to see what the future holds.”

With the economic crisis continuing to bite, Taylor is predicting a “challenging” Q1 next year, and believes recruitment freezes and further cost cutting are likely.

He said: “As a provider of temporary labour, Encore will offer clients support in plugging gaps from the predicted reduction in permanent head count requirements for some part of next year, at least. We’re working very diligently to prepare our customers now for what is down the track, with clear strategies and regular check ins in place to pre-empt any recession driven panic. The next year will be tough, but a robust recruitment plan scoped out by our expert consultants will shore up the foundations for businesses to survive and prosper.”

Encore was established in 2002 and currently employs more than 200 people at its HQ in Leicester and branches in Coventry, Birmingham, Derby, Leeds, Peterborough, Northampton, Nottingham, Warrington, Spalding and Telford.
