30 jobs at risk as Nottingham contractor calls in administrators

Nottingham-based contractor DAKO Construction has filed for administration, putting some 30 jobs in jeopardy.

According to Construction Enquirer, the stricken firm ceased trading on Monday, “closing offices and sending workers home.”

An Enquirer source told the trade title that student accommodation work picked up in 2021 proved to be “more than [DAKO] could deal with.”

The publication also quotes DAKO MD Assan Hussain as saying the firm’s situation had become “untenable” due to “soaring materials prices and… recent non payment from certain clients.”

Yesterday, a number of DAKO’s creditors took to social media to reveal they had missed out as a result of the contractor’s collapse.

Terry Thwaite, director at Oneway TM Limited, said DAKO had “had us for £37k”, while Dave Wilson of Midlands Flooring Ltd said his company was owed a “large amount.”
