Boots looking to recruit over 1,500 pharmacy staff

Boots has put out a call to recruit in excess of 1,500 pharmacy staff across its 2,200-strong branch network.

The Nottinghamshire-headquartered health, beauty and pharma giant has made the call after LloydsPharmacy announced it would be closing all of its outlets in Sainsbury’s stores by the end of the year, putting some 2,000 jobs in jeopardy.

The positions will reportedly be at “all levels.”

Earlier this month, Boots revealed it had enjoyed an encouraging performance in its first quarter, with retail sales increasing by 8.7% compared to 2021 and gross profits rising by 2.1% on a constant currency basis.

In October, the firm unveiled plans to create up to 3,000 temporary roles at its distribution centres in Beeston and Burton.

Sebastian James, managing director of Boots UK & ROI, said: “Pharmacies deliver vital healthcare in the heart of communities. News of the closure of LloydsPharmacy branches within Sainsbury’s stores will no doubt have an impact on many talented pharmacists as well as their patients.

“We have many roles available at Boots and welcome applications from LloydsPharmacy employees affected by the closures. Patients who are worried about their future pharmacy provision can check our store locator online to find out where their nearest Boots store is – our pharmacy team members are ready to help.”
