Children’s charity lands Midlands Engine investment

Nottingham-based Children’s Sensory Therapy has secured a funding package from MEIF Maven Debt Finance which is part of the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF) and managed by Maven Capital Partners.

CST is an occupational therapist founded in 2017 by Karen Hazard, specialising in children’s sensory treatments for a range of development difficulties. The organisation employs a team of paediatric occupational therapists to provide specialist sensory integration therapy to help children who have diagnoses such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy.

The company works with children and young people from birth up until the age of 18 to support them by offering therapeutic sessions at home, school, or at their clinics. The business aims to help children understand and manage some of the challenges they face from their medical conditions, and to assist their families in providing complementary support.

The funding will be used to recruit additional occupational therapists at CST and to fund the development of new premises, which will include a sensory integration room, a Psychologist’s room and further talking and sensory therapy rooms. This development will, in turn, increase CST’s capacity to help support more children, giving them the ability to offer more sensory therapy sessions within local communities.

Richard Brighty, investment manager for Maven, said: “I am delighted to be able to support Karen and her team at CST in their next stage of growth. CST has been overwhelmed with demand for its services which is testament to the team’s commitment and the quality of services provided.”

Karen Hazard at CST said: “We are really excited about what this grant can support our company to achieve. We strive to deliver the best for children and their families, and we are passionate about providing not only a high quality service from our therapists, but also a therapeutic environment where children and their families feel relaxed and welcome. We hope to start opening our doors of the new centre from the beginning of March”

Mark Wilcockson, senior investment manager at the British Business Bank, added: “The MEIF supports the growth and development of SMEs across the Midlands by financially backing innovative and sustainable businesses that positively impact the economic growth in the region through job creation. It’s great to see how this investment into CST Ltd provides tangible social impact within the region too.”
